Dental Crowns Decision Guide

10 SIMPLE STEPS toward making the right decision yourself. Just follow our DENTAL CROWNS – DECISION GUIDE below:

  • Step 1 What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a tooth-like “cap” that is used to cover and provide strength and function to damaged teeth.

They also restore the appearance of the damaged tooth, in a natural-looking way. They may also be used to cosmetically straighten teeth.

  • Step 2 Am I a candidate?

If you have any of the following, you may be a candidate for dental crowns:

    • Broken tooth
    • Cracked tooth
    • Damage due to tooth decay
    • Root canal treatment
    • Crooked teeth
    • A recently inserted dental implant that needs capping
  • Step 3 How do I get started?

To get started with your dental crown, you will first need to schedule a consultation to come in so that we can decide together if dental crowns are the best option for you.

From here, we can schedule an appointment for the next step of getting your dental crown.

  • Step 4 Do I need to come in?

A dental exam and x-rays will have to be performed to determine if a dental crown is right for you.
  • Step 5 Taking impressions

An impression is taken so that we can make a temporary crown while our dental technician is fabricating the permanent custom crown.
  • Step 6 Preparing the tooth to be capped

To prepare the tooth, we will have to ensure there is a stable foundation for the crown to be placed on.

    • We can build the tooth up with composite bonded material if need be.
    • If the tooth is already stable, we may need to reduce some of the tooth so there is enough room for the crown. A diode laser is used for tissue conditioning.
  • Step 7 Making the permanent crown

Once the tooth has been prepared, we will create an impression, or mould, to make the permanent crown.

In the mean time, a temporary crown is placed over the tooth.

  • Step 8 Fitting and placing the permanent crown

After about two weeks, the permanent crown will be prepared and is ready to be fitted.

It is cemented to the tooth permanently.

  • Step 9 What about cost?

Cost for the build-up, crown, and laser work starts at $1560
