Can dental veneers help you fix your smile?
For people who have chips, cracks or gaps in their teeth, or for those who want to straighten the look of their teeth without braces, porcelain veneers are a popular choice.
Veneers are used to repair, or cover:
- Gaps between the teeth
- Permanently stained, or discolored teeth
- Stained, or washed out fillings
- Chipped, or broken teeth
- Misshapen, or crooked teeth
If you’ve been wondering what sort of dental work would correct damage on your front teeth, porcelain veneers are a treatment to consider.

What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are custom-made porcelain shells that (after thorough preparation) will be placed on the front surfaces of your teeth. Because they are partly translucent and reflect light, they should look like natural teeth. Good quality dental veneers are also stain resistant. Veneers require the removal of some natural tooth enamel in order for them to fit properly. Ask Dr. Pavlenko if dental veneers would be an option for you.
What is the process?
The process begins with an impression of your teeth that will eventually be sent to a dental lab where a wax model of your veneers can be made.
Your dentist will review the model with you it to see if any corrections need to be made. Once the wax model is approved, the dental lab will create your custom porcelain veneers.
The next step is to prepare your teeth, and apply temporary veneers to them. The temporary veneers will not only provide you with an idea of how your porcelain veneers will look and feel, they will also correct your dental problems until the porcelain veneers arrive from the lab.
Finally, when the porcelain veneers arrive, your temporary veneers will be removed, and the permanent veneers will be attached to your teeth.

Can veneers straighten teeth?
Porcelain veneers are sometimes applied to give your teeth a smooth, straight appearance. While veneers can be an effective cosmetic treatment, it’s important to note that they are not a replacement for orthodontics, as they do not actually straighten teeth.
Get the benefits and versatility of veneers
Dental veneers can help to whiten your teeth, close spaces, and fix chips in teeth. They may be used to correct small gaps between the front teeth, or to fix teeth that are poorly shaped or slightly crooked. Your dentist may recommend veneers to cover teeth that are chipped, worn or eroded.
If you are concerned with the size, shape, position or color of your teeth, check in with a dental professional. There are many ways to correct both cosmetic and oral health problems. Booking a consultation is the first step towards discovering what’s the best dental treatment for you.
